Unemployment Fraud Alert

Fradulent unemployment claims are on the rise in the state of Illinois. Several of our clients contacted us this week about receiving debit cards related to an unemployment claim. These clients did not file unemployment claims. Identity thieves filed them on their behalf and without their knowledge.

What to Watch For

  • You receive a Unemployment Insurance letter or debit card and have not filed for benefits.
  • Your employer notifies you that you have filed a claim for unemployment and you are still employed.
  • You attempt to file a claim and one already exists.

How to Respond

  • DO NOT DELAY! Act Quickly
  • Call the Benefit Payment Control Division at (800) 814-0513
  • DO NOT activate the debit card.
