QuickBooks Desktop Users Must Reset EFTPS Passwords

The IRS is making changes to the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System. This will affect those who file federal taxes electronically through QuickBooks Desktop. If you use QuickBooks Desktop to file, you must change your EFTPS password by September 19th, 2019.

What Will Happen if I Don't?

On September 19th, 2019, the IRS will implement and enforce a 13 month expiration policy for EFTPS for those using QuickBooks Desktop to make federal payments. That means that if you haven't changed your EFTPS password in the last 13 months, your payment will be rejected. You will then be forced to update your password. We recommend that you avoid future headaches and log in to EFTPS today and update your password.

Change Your Password Today

We recommend that if you use QuickBooks Desktop, you update your EFTPS password and change the credentials in your QuickBooks Desktop client to reflect the changes. This will ensure that your tax payments will continue to be accepted by the IRS. If you need help implementing these changes or have questions, you may contact us.
